Illinois is set to face Ole Miss in a charity exhibition game on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the SJB Pavilion in Oxford, Mississippi. The game will begin at 11 a.m. CT and will be broadcast on the SEC Network. Proceeds from the event will support CASA of North Mississippi.
The Illini's preseason included a closed scrimmage against Butler earlier this month. Illinois enters the upcoming season after a successful campaign under Head Coach Brad Underwood, with a record of 29-9 last season. They won the Big Ten Tournament championship and reached the NCAA East Regional Final, marking their first Elite Eight appearance since 2005.
This year, Illinois returns only one starter, junior Ty Rodgers, and sophomore Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn as part of its scholarship players. Overall, they retain just 14.2% of last season's minutes and 9.6% of its points. Despite this turnover, Illinois has brought in five Division I transfers and signed five freshmen to strengthen their roster.
Brad Underwood has led Illinois to be the winningest team in the Big Ten over the past five seasons with a league play record of 69-31 and two conference tournament titles.
The game against Ole Miss serves as Illinois' final preparation before the regular season begins.
