Fighting Illini senior Jackson Buchanan has been named Big Ten Golfer of the Week following his performance at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational in Saucier, Mississippi, from October 19 to 21. The announcement was made by the Big Ten Conference on Thursday afternoon.

Buchanan led No. 12 Illinois to a second-place finish at the event and secured his fourth collegiate victory. He carded a total score of 209 (-7) to earn medalist honors, coming from behind after an opening round of 75 (+3) left him tied for 39th place. Buchanan improved with rounds of 68 (-4) and 66 (-6), ultimately winning by one stroke.

Throughout the tournament, Buchanan recorded par or better on 48 out of 54 holes and made 14 birdies, which was the second-highest number in the field of 75 players. Over the final two rounds, he managed to make 11 birdies with just one bogey, moving up significantly in the standings.

This recognition marks Buchanan's fifth career Big Ten Golfer of the Week honor and his first this season. It is also the first such accolade for a member of the Fighting Illini in the 2024-25 season.
