Isabel Sy has been named the Big Ten Conference Women's Co-Golfer of the Week following her performance at the Briar's Creek Invitational. The announcement was made by the conference on March 13, 2024.
Sy achieved a 54-hole total score of 211 (-5) at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek in Johns Island, South Carolina. This result allowed her to share individual medalist honors for the second consecutive tournament and marked her sixth straight Top 5 finish. Notably, she is the first golfer from her program to earn co-champion honors in back-to-back events since Renee Slone, who is now her head coach, accomplished this during the 1992-93 season.
During the tournament in South Carolina, Sy recorded only six bogeys and secured 12 birdies, ranking third among competitors. Her par-4 scoring average was an impressive 3.97 (-1), which was the second-lowest in the field.
This recognition marks Sy's fifth career weekly honor and her third of this season. She last received this award on February 28.
The Fighting Illini will return to competition on March 29 at the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic held at UGA Golf Course in Athens, Georgia.
