Isabel Sy has been recognized as a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Honorable Mention All-American, as announced by the organization. Sy is now the third student-athlete in her program's history to achieve All-American honors, following in the footsteps of her head coach Renee Slone and Crystal Wang.
"We are very excited for Isabel to be recognized as an All-American by the WGCA for her outstanding performance this season," stated Slone. "It has been a joy to assist her during these four years of growth and development. Her maturity, resolve and consistent commitment to her core principles have been key components to her success."
Hailing from San Gabriel, California, Sy had an impressive season with notable performances at The Chevron Collegiate and the Briar's Creek Invitational, where she secured back-to-back co-champion titles. This achievement makes her the first golfer in program history to earn individual medalist honors in consecutive tournaments since Slone achieved this during the 1992-93 season. Additionally, Sy is now one of seven golfers in program history to earn multiple individual medalist honors within a single season.
Her achievements include a streak of six consecutive top-four finishes, a feat not accomplished since Slone's seven-straight finishes during the 1992-93 campaign. Sy also tied for seventh at the Big Ten Championships, marking her second consecutive top-ten finish at this conference tournament and earning her a spot at the NCAA East Lansing Regional as the top-seeded individual golfer.
During her senior year, Sy maintained a scoring average of 71.36 across 36 rounds with par or better scores in 23 rounds—this is recorded as the second-lowest mark in program history. She concludes her career with an overall scoring average of 73.19, ranking third-lowest in program history.
The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), established in 1983, represents women's collegiate golf coaches across more than 650 institutions throughout the United States. The association aims to promote college golf for women while upholding educational objectives and high standards of intercollegiate competition.
