Senior golfer Isabel Sy is set to compete in the NCAA East Lansing Regional, as announced on April 24 during a live broadcast on Golf Channel. The regional event will take place at Forest Akers Golf Course in East Lansing, Michigan, from May 6-8.
Sy recently achieved a tied-for-seventh finish at the Big Ten Championships, marking her second consecutive top-10 finish at this conference event. Originally from San Gabriel, California, Sy earned co-individual medalist honors twice this season at The Chevron Collegiate and the Briar's Creek Invitational. These achievements were her first medalist honors in her collegiate career.
During the 2023-24 season, Sy recorded six consecutive top-four finishes, setting a program record for such a streak since her coach Renee Slone achieved seven straight top-four finishes in the 1992-93 season.
The NCAA will conduct six regional tournaments from May 6-8 to determine which players advance to the championship finals. A total of 72 teams and 36 individual participants have been selected for these regionals. From the pool of 396 players competing, 156 will move on to the championship finals. This includes the top five teams and the top individual not on an advancing team from each regional.
The NCAA Women's Golf National Championships are scheduled for May 17-22 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. The University of Texas will host this event.
The list of teams participating in the NCAA East Lansing Regional includes Southern California, Northwestern, Florida, Pepperdine, Michigan State, Kentucky, Denver, Oklahoma State, Indiana, Augusta, Illinois State, and Oakland. Individual competitors include Isabel Sy from Illinois along with Catie Craig (Western Kentucky), Lauren Beaudreau (Notre Dame), Carmen Griffiths (Louisville), Hana Ryskova (Louisville), and Kate Petrova (Evansville).
