The Fighting Illini women's golf team is preparing to defend their Big Ten title at the upcoming Big Ten Championships. The tournament will take place from April 19 to April 21 at Bulle Rock Golf Course in Havre de Grace, Maryland.

Bulle Rock Golf Course, designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1998, will host the event. The course will be set up as a par 72 and measures 6,314 yards. The competition involves all 14 Big Ten teams participating in a 54-hole format, with one round of play each day. Tee times are scheduled for 7:30 a.m. CT on Friday and Saturday, and at 7:00 a.m. CT on Sunday.

Teams competing alongside Illinois include Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Nebraska, Purdue, Penn State, Rutgers, and Wisconsin.

The lineup for Illinois features Isabel Sy at No.1 position followed by Yurang Li, Anna Ritter, Lexanne Halama, Erica Lee and Sophia Sulkar completing the roster.

Last year marked Illinois' first-ever Big Ten title victory under head coach Renee Slone at Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh. The team has previously finished tied for second twice in both 2018 and 2019. Illinois boasts five individual Big Ten medalists including Becky Beach (1976), Slone (formerly Heiken) in both 1991 and 1993 along with Becky Biehl (1992) and Crystal Wang (2023).

Crystal Wang made history last year by finishing the championships with a record-breaking single-round score of nine-under-par (62). This performance matched the program record for lowest single-round score while also setting the lowest round ever recorded at an NCAA Division I women's golf conference championship tournament. Isabel Sy was named to the Big Ten All-Championship Team after placing fourth with one-over-par.

Live scoring during this year's championships can be accessed via Golfstat.com with recaps available on FightingIllini.com after each day's play concludes.

Following this eventful weekend ahead lies potential participation within NCAA regionals pending selection results due Wednesday April 24th at precisely one o'clock Central Time.
