The Illinois women's golf team is positioned in sixth place after the second round of the Nexus Collegiate tournament, held in New Providence, Bahamas. The team achieved a total score of 301 (+13).
Leading the charge for Illinois is Isabel Sy, who will enter the final round with a three-stroke advantage following her impressive 3-under 69 performance. Sy managed to maintain consistency throughout her round, beginning at 1-under on the front nine and concluding with 2-under on the back nine. Her six birdies during this round bring her total to nine over 36 holes. She leads the field in par 4 (3.88, -2) and par 5 (4.30, -7) scoring categories. The senior from San Gabriel, California, aims for her first career tournament victory and seeks to secure her fourth consecutive Top 5 finish this season.
Freshman Yurang Li is tied for 14th place after carding a second-round score of 78 (+6). Despite an initial struggle with a front-nine score of 41 (+5), Li improved with a back-nine score of 37 (+1), accumulating three birdies in total. Like Sy, Li has also recorded nine birdies across two rounds, tying for fourth-most among competitors.
Anna Ritter finds herself tied for 44th place after shooting a round of 79 (+7). Meanwhile, Lexanne Halama and Erica Lee are both tied for 55th place with scores of 80 (+8) and 75 (+3), respectively.
Competing individually, Sophia Sulkar is currently tied for 64th place following her second-round score of 83 (+11).
Kentucky tops the team leaderboard at +3 (579), while their player Laney Frye trails Isabel Sy by three strokes in pursuit of the individual tournament lead.
