The Illinois women's golf team is positioned in second place after the first day of the Briar's Creek Invitational, following a 36-hole team total of 572 (-4). The event took place in Johns Island, South Carolina. Illinois was one of only two teams to finish under par and trails Michigan State by six strokes as they head into Tuesday's final round.

Michigan State leads the competition at a score of 10-under (566), with Katie Lu from Michigan State leading individually at eight-under.
The final round will commence with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. CT on Tuesday.
