The Illinois swim and dive team concluded their California trip with a meet against UCLA, resulting in a 167.5-73.5 loss to the Bruins. Senior Lily Olson secured first place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.81.
In relay events, the 200 medley relay team, comprising junior Sydney Stoll, freshman Kylee Sessions, junior Logan Kuehne, and Olson, achieved third place with a time of 1:43.84. Sessions also earned second place in the 100 breaststroke at 1:05.73.
Stoll added two bronze medals to her achievements by placing third in both the 200 freestyle (1:52.34) and the 100 backstroke (57.18). Kuehne finished third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.65, while senior Laurel Bludgen took third place in the 100 freestyle (52.77).
Sophomore Sara Jass finished third in the 100 breaststroke at 1:06.10 and fourth in the 200 IM (2:04.06). Junior Suvana Baskar placed fourth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.15.
Sophomore Adelaide Reaser came second in the 1000 freestyle clocking at 10:23.48 and third in the 500 freestyle at 5:07.51. Junior Paloma Canos Cervera mirrored this performance by finishing second in the latter event (5:07.20) and third in the former (10:25.12).
The team's performance was rounded off by Olson, freshman Maggie Adler, Kuehne, and junior Molly Yetter who took bronze in the closing event—the 200 freestyle relay—finishing with a time of 1:34.44.
On diving boards, junior Taylor Michael claimed third on both one-meter (250.58) and three-meter boards (277.13). Freshmen Bethany Mercer and Dani O'Kelly followed closely behind on one-meter boards with scores of 245.85 and 237.23 respectively; O'Kelly also placed fourth on three-meter boards with a score of 260.63 while freshman Matilda Garcia took fifth at that height scoring at 248.25.
The Illinois team will return to competition for their home opener against Vanderbilt on Saturday, November 4th at11 a.m CT.
