Fighting Illini women's tennis to face Penn State and Ohio State

With the regular season nearing its end, the Fighting Illini women's tennis team is set to face Penn State and Ohio State. The match against Penn State will take place on Friday at 2 p.m. CT, followed by a Sunday game against Ohio State at 11 a.m.

Penn State holds a 5-14 overall record, with a 4-5 standing in conference play and has won four out of eight home matches this season. Meanwhile, Ohio State boasts a 15-6 overall record and an impressive 8-1 in Big Ten action, with seven wins from nine home games. They will first compete against Northwestern on Friday before facing Illinois.

The Illinois team currently ranks No. 35 with a season record of 15-7, including a strong 7-2 in Big Ten play. Last weekend, they achieved victories over Indiana and Purdue during their final home games of the season.

In terms of head-to-head records, Illinois leads Penn State with an all-time series score of 27-4 and holds a slight advantage over Ohio State at 35-20. Under coach Evan Clark's leadership, Illinois has been more successful against Penn State (5-1) than Ohio State (1-6).

Coach Evan Clark has led the team for nine years and holds an overall dual record of 129-82 (.611), including a Big Ten record of 65-30 (.684). His tenure includes three NCAA Tournament appearances for Illinois.

Looking ahead, the Fighting Illini will participate in the Big Ten Tournament from April 24 to April 28 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
