Illinois women's tennis team achieved a decisive 4-0 victory against Indiana on Friday. The match, held in Urbana, saw Illinois improve their home record to 10-1 and overall to 14-7, including a 6-2 record in Big Ten matches. Indiana's loss brought them to a season record of 6-17 and 0-9 in league play.
Under head coach Evan Clark, Illinois has maintained a strong performance against the Hoosiers, now standing at 5-1. This match was their first encounter since the dual season of 2021.
Illinois secured its 13th doubles point of the season with wins from Kasia Treiber and McKenna Schaefbauer at No. 2 doubles (6-2) and Kate Duong and Alice Xu at No. 3 doubles (7-5). Despite losing at No. 1 doubles, these victories clinched the opening point for Illinois.
In singles competition, Alice Xu quickly finished her match with a win of 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. Kida Ferrari followed with a victory of 7-5, 6-2 at No. 5 singles after overcoming an initial set deficit. Kasia Treiber secured the final win for Illinois with a score of 7-5, 6-4 at No. 4 singles.
The Illini will conclude their regular season with upcoming away games against Penn State on April 19 and Ohio State on April 21.
