The Fighting Illini women's tennis team secured a decisive 4-0 victory against Minnesota in their Big Ten match at the Atkins Tennis Center on Friday. This win marks Illinois' third consecutive triumph in the conference, improving their season record to 13-6 and 5-1 in league play. The team has shown strong performance at home, boasting a 9-1 record.

Minnesota's overall record now stands at 10-8, with a 3-3 mark in Big Ten matches.

Illinois began by claiming the doubles point with victories from Kida Ferrari and Josie Frazier at No. 2, and McKenna Schaefbauer and Kasia Treiber at No. 3. Ferrari and Frazier achieved a 6-1 win, while Schaefbauer and Treiber secured a 6-3 victory. These results bring the duo's season record to 5-4 and 5-1 respectively.

In singles play, Illinois dominated by winning the first set on all six courts. Schaefbauer was the first to finish her match with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. Megan Heuser followed with a straight-set victory of 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.

Kasia Treiber clinched the match for Illinois with her performance at No. 4 singles, winning her match with scores of 6-3, 7-5. This marked her fifth clinch of the season.
