The Fighting Illini women's tennis team is set to face off against Northwestern at the Atkins Tennis Center on March 30. This event forms part of a doubleheader with the Illinois men's team.

Northwestern, ranked No. 37, has a 13-4 record and remains undefeated in Big Ten play with four wins. They have shown strength at home but have struggled somewhat on the road, holding a 3-4 away record.

Illinois, currently ranked No. 41, boasts an 11-6 overall season record and is 3-1 in Big Ten matches so far.

During their recent away matches, Illinois split results by losing to Iowa and defeating Nebraska. The Illini won the doubles point against Iowa but lost the match 4-2. Against Nebraska, after conceding the doubles point, they claimed victory with four singles wins.

Northwestern leads the historical series against Illinois with a record of 55-11; however, Illinois has won their last three encounters under head coach Evan Clark.

Clark has been leading the Illini for nine years and holds an overall dual record of 125-81 during his tenure. Last season, Illinois recorded an 18-10 finish and secured its third NCAA Team Tournament appearance under Clark's leadership.

Illinois features players like Kasia Treiber who was named Big Ten Women's Tennis Player of the Week on February 21 for her performances in victories over Brown and Marshall.

In doubles play, Megan Heuser and Alice Xu have formed a successful partnership this season with a ranking of No. 47 in ITA doubles rankings.

The upcoming schedule includes matches against Minnesota at home on April 5 and an away game against Wisconsin on April 7.
