The Fighting Illini women's tennis team faced tough competition at the Blue Gray Tennis Classic, concluding their participation with two losses. The event, held in Montgomery, Alabama, saw Illinois finish with a 1-2 record.

Illinois now holds an 8-4 overall season record and stands at 3-3 in neutral matches. In their first match on Saturday against #36 Alabama, Josie Frazier secured a straight-set victory of 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 singles. This win maintained her unbeaten streak at No. 5 singles this season. Despite Frazier's efforts, Illinois was defeated by Alabama with a score of 4-1.

Later that day, Illinois faced Wake Forest and initially took the lead by winning the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles positions. However, Wake Forest came back strong to win four consecutive singles matches, ultimately taking the match with another 4-1 scoreline.

Illinois will next compete against Washington on Friday, March 1st at 2 p.m. CT.
