Illinois volleyball faced a challenging match against the top-ranked Nebraska team, resulting in a four-set loss at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Raina Terry led Illinois with 20 kills, marking her 24th time as the team's leading scorer this season. Brooke Mosher achieved her 12th double-double of the year by recording 33 assists and 13 digs. Caroline Barnes contributed with a team-high of 14 digs, while Cari Bohm secured six blocks. Jessica Nunge, Vanessa Pan, Barnes, and Mosher each added an ace to their stats during the match.
The match began with Illinois struggling to keep pace with Nebraska's momentum. In the first set, they fell behind early and despite brief rallies could not close the gap, losing 25-14. The second set saw similar challenges for Illinois as they hit -.167 as a team and allowed Nebraska to finish on a 6-0 run for another 25-14 defeat.
In the third set, Illinois showed resilience by taking an early lead thanks to Nunge's service run. The teams exchanged points until Terry's decisive plays helped Illinois secure a narrow 26-24 victory. However, in the fourth set, despite closing in on Nebraska's lead multiple times, Illinois ultimately lost 25-22.
Looking ahead, Illinois will host Ohio State at Huff Hall on Wednesday night. The match is scheduled for an 8 p.m. start and will be broadcast on Big Ten Network.
