The Big Ten Conference has announced the lineup of opponents for the 2024-25 men's basketball season. For the seventh consecutive year, teams in the conference will compete in a 20-game schedule. The addition of UCLA, USC, Oregon, and Washington to the Big Ten brings the total number of teams to 18. Each school will play three teams both at home and away, while facing 14 other teams once, with seven games at home and seven away.

Illinois' matchups for the upcoming season include:

- Home Only: Iowa, Maryland, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, UCLA, USC

- Away Only: Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oregon, Rutgers, Washington

- Home & Away: Michigan State, Northwestern, Wisconsin

Illinois holds the best record in Big Ten conference play over the past five years with a 69-31 record. Under head coach Brad Underwood's leadership, Illinois has won Big Ten Championships in three of the last four years and has made four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. The team is one of only five to achieve five straight seasons with at least 20 wins. In 2024, Illinois recorded its third-highest win total in school history and secured a Big Ten Tournament title along with an NCAA Elite Eight appearance—their first since 2005. The Fighting Illini concluded their season ranked No. 6 in the AP poll.
