Illinois baseball is set to resume Big Ten play with a three-game series against Maryland in College Park. The games will take place at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium, starting on Friday at 4 p.m. CT.
The Illini recently secured a 12-1 victory over Western Illinois and have maintained an impressive home record of 15-1 this season. Right-handed pitcher Jack Crowder, with a record of 3-1 and an ERA of 5.03, will start the series opener for Illinois.
Maryland enters the weekend with a 26-16 overall record and has performed well at home, winning 11 out of their last 14 games. Infielder Eddie Hacopian leads the Terrapins offensively with a .391 batting average.
Illinois trails Maryland in their all-time series but holds a slight advantage in games played in College Park. The Illini's last encounter with Maryland resulted in a loss on April 23, 2022.
The series will be broadcast on various platforms including the Big Ten Network and B1G+. Zach Mackey and Danan Hughes will provide commentary for Friday's game.
Looking ahead, Illinois will return to their home field for a midweek matchup against Indiana State next Tuesday.
