Illinois secured a victory against Missouri State, 74-69, in the first round of the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament at State Farm Center. The Fighting Illini overcame an 11-point deficit to win their first postseason game since March 28, 2013.

Adalia McKenzie achieved her third double-double of the season with a season-high 21 points and 11 rebounds. She shot 50% from the field and reached the 1,000-point milestone in her collegiate career. Makira Cook led with a season-best 27 points and was efficient from the free-throw line. Genesis Bryant added 14 points, making three out of five attempts from beyond the arc.

The Illini shot effectively in the second half, achieving a shooting percentage of 56.5% from the field and tying their program record for three-point percentage by shooting 75%. Despite trailing early on, Illinois used a series of runs to take control in the second half.

"We live to see another day," said head coach Shauna Green after expressing pride in her team's performance. "We can't wait to play at home again on Sunday."

Illinois will face Stony Brook in the second round of the WBIT at State Farm Center.
