Kenta Miyoshi, a junior from Illinois men's tennis team, achieved his first professional victory by winning the ITF M15 Anseong men's doubles title. Miyoshi, alongside Edward Winter, lost only one set throughout the tournament.
The duo started their campaign with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Yeonsu Jeong and Jangjun Kim in the opening round. They continued their strong performance by defeating top seeds Yeongseok Jeong and Minkyu Song in the quarterfinals with a straight-set victory of 6-3, 7-5.
In the semifinals, they faced Min Seong Kim and Minjong Park. After gaining a 2-1 lead in the first set, their opponents retired from the match due to unforeseen circumstances. This advancement led them to face Ethan Cook and Naoki Tajima in the finals.
During the final match, Miyoshi and Winter won the first set 6-3 but dropped the second set 7-5. In a decisive third set, they established an early lead of 5-2. Despite Cook and Tajima narrowing it down to 5-4, Miyoshi and Winter managed to secure five out of seven points to claim victory.
Miyoshi also participated in singles at Anseong-si but was eliminated in the quarterfinals. The previous week saw him reach another quarterfinal at ITF M15 Harmon in Guam.
Hailing from Kawasaki, Japan, Miyoshi earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors during his sophomore year for leading his team with 27 singles victories. He also received Academic All-Big Ten and Academic CSC All-District recognition during his time with Fighting Illini.
