No. 19 Illinois men's tennis team is preparing to host a doubleheader on March 1, facing Eastern Illinois University (EIU) at 10 a.m. and No. 14 Baylor at 6 p.m. The matches will take place at the Atkins Tennis Center in Champaign, Illinois.

The Illini are entering these matches following a close victory against Notre Dame, where they secured a 4-3 win on February 17. In that match, Mathis Debru and Kenta Miyoshi won their doubles match with a score of 6-2, while Karlis Ozolins and Hunter Heck clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win. Alex Petrov sealed the overall victory in singles play with scores of 6-4 and 7-5.

Eastern Illinois comes into this encounter after experiencing their seventh consecutive loss of the season, having been defeated by Lipscomb on February 25. Despite this streak, William Hays and Jon William Karlstad managed to achieve a doubles win for EIU.

Meanwhile, Baylor's recent performance includes a defeat by No. 1 Ohio State with a score of 4-1. However, they managed to earn points in doubles play through victories by Oskar Brostrom Poulsen and Christopher Frantzen as well as Devin Badenhorst and Luc Koenig.
