The Fighting Illini men's golf team, ranked 18th nationally in the NCAA Division I rankings, has been selected to compete in the NCAA Stanford Regional. The announcement was made live on GOLF Channel. This marks the 16th consecutive qualification for the team and their 19th appearance overall under head coach Mike Small, who has led them to five NCAA Regional titles.

The regional tournament will be hosted by Stanford University at the Stanford Golf Course from May 13-15. The course is a par 70 and spans 6,727 yards. Illinois enters as the No. 3 seed and will compete against teams such as Florida State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Stanford, UCLA, SMU, Missouri, Fresno State, UNLV, Augusta, Liberty, Sacramento State, and Siena.

The top five teams and the lowest-scoring individual not on a qualifying team from each of the six regional sites will advance to the NCAA Championship. This event will take place at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California from May 24-29. Illinois aims for its 15th NCAA Championship berth in the last 16 tournaments since 2008.

In addition to Stanford's site, other regional competitions will be held at Birck Boilermaker Golf Course (hosted by Purdue), The Farms Golf Club (hosted by San Diego), UNC Finley Golf Course (hosted by North Carolina), University Club (hosted by LSU), and The University of Texas Golf Club (hosted by Texas).
