The State Farm Center has become a pivotal venue for the Fighting Illini women's basketball team, hosting memorable victories and drawing significant fan attendance. The team recently achieved its largest single-season attendance in over two decades, marking back-to-back seasons with 10 or more home wins for only the fourth time in program history.

Head coach Shauna Green emphasized the importance of fan support for maintaining a competitive edge in the Big Ten. "Now we're creating some buzz and some momentum, people enjoy watching this team play," she stated. Green's arrival in March 2022 marked a turning point as she focused on fostering a welcoming and winning atmosphere at the center.

In her first season, the Illini attracted over 50,000 fans across 15 home games. A highlight was their victory over No. 12/10 Iowa on New Year's Day during that campaign. Green expressed gratitude towards community support after Illinois' final home game of the 2022-23 season, saying, "I'm very, very grateful for the community."

The positive momentum continued into the 2023-24 season with impressive attendance figures and performances. Illinois recorded its third-largest margin of victory in program history with a win on November 15th. Sophomore Shay Bollin noted the impact of large crowds: "It's harder to hear when there's a huge crowd, and that's what we want every game."

Junior Kendall Bostic also appreciated community support through her time at Illinois. Reflecting on a game attended by her students, she said, "It's my favorite game of the year because all those kids are excited to be there."

Illinois concluded their regular season by winning four out of six final home games, including an emphatic victory against No. 14/12 Indiana. The team's average home attendance this season reached its highest since 2000-01.

Beyond Champaign, Illini fans have supported the team across various venues during away games and tournaments. After a recent tournament match in Minneapolis, Bostic acknowledged this support: "We appreciate their support through the ups and downs."

The Illini are set to host Missouri State in their upcoming Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament match at State Farm Center.
