Freshman Lyden Saltness has been recognized as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, following her performance at the Big Five Meet. The announcement was made by the conference office on Tuesday.
Saltness, who hails from Stillwater, Minnesota and is currently undeclared in her major at Illinois, achieved a score of 9.975 on bars during the meet. Her performance contributed to Illinois matching its season-high team score of 196.850.
This accolade marks Saltness's first career Freshman of the Week award. The last time an Illinois freshman received this honor was Mia Takekawa on January 11, 2020.
