The Illinois men's tennis team, ranked 11th nationally, is preparing to host a significant match against the University of Arizona, currently ranked 7th. The match is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. CT at the Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana, Illinois.

Historically, Illinois holds a 1-0 record against Arizona, having last defeated them on February 24, 1994, with a score of 4-3 in Tempe, Arizona.

Arizona enters this match on an impressive seven-match winning streak. During this run, they have not allowed any opponent to score more than one point. This includes a notable victory over Michigan State with a score of 4-1.

The Wildcats have already played at the Atkins Tennis Center this weekend. On Saturday, they secured a decisive 7-0 win against Eastern Illinois University (EIU).

Arizona's team features three players ranked in the top 80 of the ITA singles rankings: Colton Smith at No. 8, Jay Friend at No. 52, and Gustaf Strom at No. 89. In doubles play, Arizona boasts two pairs within the top 50 ITA doubles rankings: Colton Smith and Jay Friend are ranked No.15 while Sasha Rozin and Gustaf Strom hold the No.36 spot.
