Four student-athletes from the University of Illinois women's basketball team have been named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honorees. The announcement was made on Tuesday by the association.
Kendall Bostic and Adalia McKenzie have received this recognition for the second consecutive year, while Genesis Bryant and Camille Hobby are first-time recipients.
Bostic, in her third season at Illinois, is pursuing a master's degree in special education after earning a bachelor's degree in speech and hearing sciences. McKenzie is also in her third season and is working towards an undergraduate degree in recreation, sport, and tourism. Bryant, a second-year player for Illinois, majors in communication. Hobby, a graduate transfer from NC State with an undergraduate degree in sport management, is working towards a master's degree in recreation, sport, and tourism at Illinois.
To qualify for this award, nominees must maintain a GPA of 3.50 or higher and be at least sophomores academically and athletically. They must also be starters or significant reserves who have participated in at least 90 percent of their team's games or started 66 percent of contests.
On the court, Bostic has recorded 14 double-doubles this season and averages 12.3 points per game along with 10.7 rebounds per game. McKenzie averages 11.2 points per game and leads the team with 73 offensive rebounds this year. Bryant contributes an average of 13.8 points per game with notable performances early in her senior season. Hobby has become part of the starting lineup mid-season and averages 9.3 points per game.
The Illini will compete next against Tulsa on Thursday, March 28th during the WBIT quarterfinals.
