Lyden Saltness earns second consecutive Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor

Freshman gymnast Lyden Saltness has been recognized as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week. The announcement was made by the conference office on Tuesday. Saltness, a student at Illinois, achieved scores of 9.900 on bars in two recent competitions: the All-Ohio meet and a match against Bowling Green held during the weekend of March 1-3.

Saltness's performances contributed to Illinois securing a second-place finish with a total score of 196.325 at the All-Ohio meet and a first-place finish over Bowling Green with a score of 196.125. This accolade marks her second Freshman of the Week award in her career.

The last time an Illinois freshman received this honor was also Saltness, on February 27, 2024.
