Nick Hardy, following a top-10 finish at the Black Desert Championship, is leading a group of Illinois alumni competing in professional golf tournaments this week.
In the PGA Tour, Hardy achieved his best individual result of the year with a tie for 8th place at the Black Desert Championship in Ivins, Utah. He completed the tournament with a score of 16-under 268 (66-71-66-65) at Black Desert Resort. This marked his second top-25 finish of the season. Hardy will compete alongside fellow Illinois alumnus Adrien Dumont de Chassart at the Shriner's Children's Open held at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dumont de Chassart aims to make his second cut this month after finishing tied for 55th at the Sanderson Farms Championship earlier in October.
On the DP World Tour, Matthis Besard is participating in the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucia Masters taking place at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande in San Roque, Andalucia, southern Spain. Besard has successfully made cuts in his last two starts on this tour, tying for 39th at the acciona Open de Espana and finishing tied for 43rd two weeks ago at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
In Q-School updates, several Illini are competing in different locations during this first stage. Larry Blatt is playing in West Palm Beach, Florida; Tyler Goecke is participating in Bermuda Run, North Carolina; and Michael Feagles is competing in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At Magnolia Grove's Q-School site, three Illini alumni—Piercen Hunt, Jerry Ji, and Tommy Kuhl—are also competing.
