Illinois soccer team secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Indiana at Bill Armstrong Stadium. The win was marked by Sarah Foley's decisive goal in the 13th minute and Izzy Lee's strong performance as goalkeeper, making seven saves to achieve her fourth clean sheet of the season.
The match began with both teams creating opportunities. In the second minute, Lee made her first save, followed by Emma Yee forcing a save from Indiana's keeper in the eighth minute. The Illini took the lead when Lia Howard set up Kennedy Berschel, who delivered a through ball to Foley. Foley capitalized on this chance by sending the ball past Indiana’s goalkeeper.
Indiana nearly equalized in the 17th minute, but Lee made an impressive close-range save. She continued her defensive efforts throughout the first half, making four saves and maintaining Illinois' lead into halftime.
The second half saw both teams locked in a defensive struggle with no shots on goal until midway through. Lee continued to be instrumental for Illinois, saving attempts from Indiana in both the 63rd and 68th minutes. Her final save came in the 73rd minute as Illinois held off any further attempts from Indiana to ensure their victory.
Following this win, Illinois will face Rutgers on Sunday at Yurcak Field with kickoff scheduled for noon CT.
