Village of Pesotum Board of Trustees met Sept. 18
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
1. Call to Order, Pledge of Allegiance and Roll Call
Village President, Joyce Ragle, called the Study Session Meeting to order at 6:38 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance and Roll Call were completed at Village Board of Trustees Special Meeting prior to this Study Session Meeting.
2. Presentations/Comments from the General Public – None
3. Old Business
Deputy Casey Donavon of the Champaign County Sherrif Department was present to address previous enforcement concerns of the Village. Joyce Ragle asked for increased visibility of officers during afternoon and early evening hours rather than during late night hours. Following a discussion of the Village’s concerns regarding law enforcement Deputy Donavon left the meeting at 7:03 p.m.
4. New Business
Joyce Ragle shared a letter she had received from Elizabeth Megli, Village Attorney, questioning the effectiveness of speed bumps/speed humps. This issue to be further discussed at the October meeting.
The date for the Holiday party/tree lighting ceremony was changed to December 8, 2024. Research continues for choir/carolers to sing at the ceremony. Common Grounds coffee house in Tuscola to be contacted about possibility of providing hot drinks. Suggestion made to offer a Mobile Photo Booth at ceremony.
Joyce Ragle spoke with Marybeth of the Horse and Buggy Rides about providing buggy rides at the Holiday party. Cost: $250 first hour / $225 second hour / $35 mileage for a total of $510 for 2 hours (2-4 pm) on 12/8/2024. Marybeth will provide the Village with a copy of their certificate of insurance.
The Community Building will be open during the ceremony to provide restroom availability.
5. Presentations/Comments from the Board
Joyce Ragle announced that she will not be present at the October 2, 2024, Village Board of Trustees Study Session Meeting.
Joyce Ragle provided information from two companies that offer banner bracketing systems and banners. Discussion will continue at the October meeting regarding purchase and installation concerns/expense.
Clean up of the remaining debris at 105 E. Adams St. has been completed. Joyce Ragle will follow up with Elizabeth Megli, Village Attorney, about when property can be listed for sale.
Joyce Ragle will contact, Elizabeth Megli, Village Attorney, regarding progress of the Village camping ordinance.
