4-H youth in Illinois have been recognized for their accomplishments in leadership and career development through the State 4-H Experience Award. This award acknowledges members who have participated in activities across four categories: Participation, Community Service, Leadership, and Project Mastery. To be eligible, members must extend their 4-H involvement beyond the county level.

Kevin Carey, University of Illinois Extension senior program lead and acting 4-H director, stated, "The 4-H organization empowers youth to navigate and celebrate their passion and mastery in a variety of areas." He emphasized that these young individuals set an example for the ongoing work that 4-H contributes to communities statewide.

The Diamond Level awards honor those who have completed six or more experiences in one of three dimensions, with at least four experiences beyond the county level. Earl & Arlene Williams sponsor these awards. Among those recognized were Sarah Rossi from Grundy County and Olivia Truhlar from Grundy County for Leadership.

Emerald Level awards are given to those completing eight or more experiences with at least two at state, national, or international levels. Chris & Ellen Dahm and Pat Clickener sponsor these awards. Notable winners include Hayley Lair from Adams County and Lance Woolam from Adams County for Leadership.

Ross Vancil of Henderson County received the Deb Stocker Award for outstanding leadership within the 4-H Youth Leadership Team. Additionally, Andrea Schaffnit from Adams County was named a recipient of the Sustaining the Future Award sponsored by the Illinois Farm Bureau.

Carey expressed pride in the dedication shown by these young individuals: "We are beyond proud of the commitment and care these 4-H’ers have brought to their local community and beyond."

Illinois 4-H is part of University of Illinois Extension's flagship youth development program. It aims to empower youth today while preparing them for future careers through hands-on learning opportunities.
