Three Illinois teenagers have been selected to join the 4-H Healthy Living Ambassador (HLA) team, taking on roles that involve leadership, mentorship, and education in their communities. The HLA team is composed of teen 4-H members who assist with healthy living programs and workshops while developing their leadership and collaborative skills.
The program leverages the influence of youth in communities by using teens to educate peers and families about health topics chosen and facilitated by the ambassadors themselves. New members Kelsey Aldrich from White County, Nick Gorbach from Rock Island County, and Peter Widinski from Will County will join returning members Lilah Bonny from Shelby County, Katelyn Marley from Montgomery County, and Allison Sewell from McClean County.
Throughout the upcoming year, the HLA team aims to promote healthy living and inspire positive change within their communities. By leading workshops and engaging with youth, they intend to raise awareness about health and wellness while building leadership skills. Their efforts are expected to have a lasting impact on community well-being.
Illinois 4-H is a prominent youth development program under the University of Illinois Extension's College of Agriculture, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences. It focuses on empowering young people through hands-on experiences that prepare them for future careers. Research indicates that 4-H participants are significantly more likely to contribute positively to their communities and make healthier lifestyle choices.
