The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Extension has unveiled its new 10-year strategic plan titled "Lifelong Learning. Lifelong Impact." This plan includes eight strategic priorities and signature initiatives aimed at enhancing locally responsive programming.
In collaboration with Huron Consulting Group, Illinois Extension conducted a thorough planning process throughout 2023 and early 2024. This involved surveys, focus groups, and listening sessions with both internal and external stakeholders across the state. The research highlighted important findings related to the organization's engagement, services, partnerships, and impact. It also identified shifting trends, demographics, and needs affecting Illinois residents.
The Extension is set to embark on a new phase of service as it continues to advance the land-grant mission of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences. An upcoming Zoom-based town hall event will feature Associate Dean and Illinois Extension Director Shelly Nickols-Richardson along with members of the Strategic Planning and Implementation team. They will discuss the plan's eight strategic priorities: community, economy, environment, food and agriculture, health, partnerships, technology and discovery, and workforce excellence.
For those interested in learning more about these initiatives or attending the town hall event scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 11 a.m., further details are available through Bobbie Jo Lewis-Sibley at 217-300-9291.
The writer of this announcement is Bridget Lee-Calfas, director of marketing and communications for Illinois Extension.
