Illini men's tennis team competes at ITA All-American Championships

The Fighting Illini men's tennis team is competing at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Gabrielius Guzauskas and William Mroz began their tournament on Saturday, September 21, in the singles pre-qualifying draw. Kenta Miyoshi will join the competition for the singles main draw on Wednesday, September 25.

The tournament's format includes pre-qualifying rounds starting from September 21 to 22, qualifying rounds from September 23 to 24, and the main draw from September 25 to 29.

In the pre-qualifying first round on September 21, Soham Purohit of Washington defeated Gabrielius Guzauskas of Illinois with scores of 6-4 and 6-3. Meanwhile, William Mroz of Illinois won against William Nolan of Auburn with a scoreline of 6-4 and 6-2.

On September 22, in the second round of pre-qualifying matches, William Mroz defeated Nate Bonetto from Georgia Tech with scores of 6-2 and 6-1. In the third round later that day, Mroz triumphed over Oscar Brown from Duke with scores of 6-1 and 6-4. Additionally, Gabrielius Guzauskas won his consolation match against Teddy Truwit from Duke with scores of 6-2 and 6-1.

During the qualifying first round on September 23, William Mroz faced No.51 Wissam Abderrahman from Clemson and secured a victory with scores of 7-6(5), 2-6, and 6-1. However, in the qualifying second round on September 24, Max Sheldon from Michigan State defeated Mroz with scores of 2-6, 6-2, and 6-1.

Kenta Miyoshi is set to compete in his first-round match in the main draw on Wednesday, September .25
