Illinois quarterback Luke Altmyer has been recognized for his performance against Nebraska by being named to both the Davey O'Brien Award's Great 8 and the Manning Award's Stars of the Week lists. His contributions have also earned him a spot on the official Davey O'Brien Award Watch List for the season.

The National QB of the Week will be announced by the Davey O'Brien Award on Tuesday at 11 a.m. CT.

Altmyer played a crucial role in Illinois' 31-24 overtime victory over Nebraska, completing 21 of 27 passes for four touchdowns and accumulating 236 total yards of offense. Notably, he tied the game with a touchdown pass to offensive lineman Brandon Henderson in the fourth quarter and secured the win with another touchdown pass to Pat Bryant in overtime.

This achievement marks Altmyer as the first Illinois quarterback since Kurt Kittner in 1999 to throw for four touchdowns on the road against a top-25 team. Additionally, he is currently the only quarterback nationwide to have thrown over ten touchdowns without any interceptions this season, leading Illinois to two ranked victories and their second 4-0 start since 1951.

Illinois has climbed to #19 in the AP Top 25 rankings. The Fighting Illini are set to face #9 Penn State on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT, with coverage on NBC.
