Illinois track and field announces full schedule for upcoming seasons

The Illinois track and field team has released its schedule for the 2025 season, as announced by Petros Kyprianou, the director of track, field, and cross country. The Illini will host four meets in 2025, with two during the indoor season and two during the outdoor season.

The 2025 indoor season begins at the UI Armory on January 11 with the Fighting Illini Open. On January 18, the team will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana for the Hoosier Horsepower Classic. The final home meet of the indoor season, the Fighting Illini Challenge and Combined Events, will take place at the UI Armory on January 24-25.

On February 7-8, the team will split up; distance runners will head to Boston for the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational while sprinters and field athletes travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the New Mexico Collegiate Classic. The following week, Illinois will compete in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the Tyson Invitational on February 14-15 and close out their indoor regular season on February 22 in South Bend, Indiana at the Alex Wilson Invitational.

The Big Ten Indoor Championships are scheduled from February 28-March 1 in Indianapolis. The women's team aims to defend its title from last season. The NCAA Indoor Championships are set for March 14-15 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The outdoor season starts on March 21-22 with the USF Alumni Invitational in Tampa, Florida. After a two-week break, Illinois competes next on April 4-5 at the Florida Relays in Gainesville. Following another week off, they will participate in midweek events at Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California on April 16-17.

During April 18-19 weekend meets, sprinters and field athletes will attend Tom Jones Invitational in Gainesville while distance runners go to Charlottesville for UVA Challenge.

Illinois wraps up its outdoor regular season with back-to-back home meets at Demirjian Park: Fighting Illini Twilight on April 26 followed by Gary Wieneke Memorial on May 2-3.

Big Ten Outdoor Championships are slated for May 15-17 in Eugene Oregon followed by NCAA West Preliminaries from May 28-31 in College Station Texas concluding with NCAA Outdoor Championships held June11 -14 again located Eugene Oregon.
