Illinois women's golf opens season with fifth-place finish at Bettie Lou Evans Invitational

Illinois women's golf team opened the 2024-25 season with a fifth-place finish at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, recording a 54-hole team total of 893 (+29). The Illini posted a third-round score of 299 (+11).

Anna Ritter, competing as an individual, achieved the best finish of her career by tying for sixth place. She fired a third-round total of 73 (+1) to conclude the tournament at 3-over and recorded her first top-10 finish.

Victoria Zheng also secured a top-10 finish, placing tenth in her debut event for Illinois. Zheng shot a final round of 75 (+3), including two birdies.

Lexanne Halama finished in eighteenth place after scoring a third-round 78 (+6), marking her first top-20 finish since the 2021-22 season.

Yurang Li and Brielle Mapanao both tied for thirtieth place with final rounds of 74 (+2) and 75 (+3), respectively. Brielle Burns placed forty-second in her collegiate debut with a final round of 75 (+3).

TCU won the team title at 7-over (871), while Washington State's Alice Johannson earned individual medalist honors at 4-under (212).

The Fighting Illini will compete next on September 23 in Charlottesville, Virginia, at the Cavalier Regional Preview.
