Gameday Spirit Fanstore and Illinois Athletics have announced a collaboration to launch the 2024 Illini Legends Collectible Collection. This series of limited-edition bobbleheads honors two legendary figures in Fighting Illini football history: Dick Butkus and Red Grange.

In celebration of Memorial Stadium's 100th anniversary, Gameday Spirit will release two hand-crafted collectibles timed with key home games during the 2024 football season.

The first collectible, featuring Dick Butkus, will debut during the Illinois vs. Central Michigan Homecoming game on September 14, 2024. The bobblehead will be available for purchase in-store starting at 9:00 AM CST on Friday, September 13, 2024.

"My dad's bobblehead is more than just a collectible—it's a tribute to his passion for Illini football and the lasting legacy he built on and off the field," said Matt Butkus of The Butkus Foundation and son of Dick.

The second bobblehead, honoring Red Grange, will be released ahead of the Illinois vs. Michigan game on October 19, 2024. This date marks the 100th anniversary of Memorial Stadium and Grange's seven-touchdown game against Michigan in 1924.

Both bobbleheads will be produced in limited quantities and available at designated home games and Gameday Spirit's Champaign locations on Green Street and Neil Street.

"At Gameday Spirit, we take great pride in offering products that deeply resonate with the Illini community," said Ryan Majeres, CEO of Gameday Spirit Fanstore. "These bobbleheads celebrate the legends who have shaped Illini football and the stadium that has been their stage for 100 years."

"We are excited to partner with Gameday Spirit to celebrate Memorial Stadium's 100th anniversary and honor the two iconic figures in Fighting Illini football history," said Josh Whitman, University of Illinois Director of Athletics. "This collaboration honors our rich history and gives fans a special way to connect with the legacy of Illini football."
