Illinois men's golf alumni Thomas Detry and Adrien Dumont de Chassart, both representing Belgium, are set to compete for Olympic gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The men's golf competition will commence on Thursday at Le Golf National, located southwest of Paris.

"Detry, the world's No. 57-ranked golfer, is playing in his second consecutive Olympics after joining former Illini teammate Thomas Pieters at the Tokyo games in 2021," stated a representative from Illinois Men's Golf. Pieters also participated in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro games. Detry finished tied for 22nd in Tokyo's 60-player field. For Dumont de Chassart, this marks his Olympic debut.

Detry is well-acquainted with Le Golf National, an annual host of the Open de France on the DP World Tour. In five appearances at this venue for the Open de France, he has made four cuts and achieved three top-25 finishes, including a tie for eighth place in 2019.

The Olympic competition spans four days from August 1 to August 4 without any cuts. Live coverage will be available daily from 2 a.m. CT to 11 a.m. CT on GOLF Channel and Peacock, with Sunday's final round followed by the medal ceremony.

Dumont de Chassart is scheduled to tee off at 3:22 a.m. CT on Thursday, while Detry's start time is set for 4:33 a.m. CT for Round 1.
