DOWNERS GROVE, ILL. – The Foundation for the Restoration of America (FFROA) awarded a $2,000 scholarship to University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign student Thomas Tierney following his completion of the Constitutional Study Scholarship Program.

From Naperville, Illinois, Tierney committed to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign after graduating from Benet Academy High School this spring.

“As a man of faith, I found it very interesting how the Declaration of Independence specifically claimed that God was present in all three branches of government,” Tierney said while reflecting on the Constitutional Study Scholarship Program. “A claim like this about the omnipresent nature of our Lord is bold and powerful, and also completely true.”

He also noted that we have a responsibility, as Americans, to live virtuously if we expect that from our leaders.

“As Americans, we deserve better. However, we cannot demand better out of our ruling class if we do not want to hold ourselves to the same standard,” he said.

The Foundation’s Executive Director Christine Altenberger shared her excitement about the scholarship program and the impressive student winners like Tierney.

“Thomas had some remarkable insights after taking the course. It’s a testament to his own brightness along with the wonderful courses provided by Hillsdale College,” Altenberger said.
