U.S. Representative Mary Miller reacted to President Joe Biden stepping down and his support for Vice President Kamala Harris to run for president, stating, "'Border Czar' Kamala Harris must answer for the deadly invasion of our southern border and her cover-up of Biden's cognitive decline." She made the statement in a July 21 Facebook post.

"Kamala Harris led the Democrats' cover-up of Joe Biden's severe cognitive decline," said Miller, according to Facebook. "Their donors only forced Biden out once they got "caught. Border Czar" Kamala Harris must answer for the deadly invasion of our southern border and her cover-up of Biden's cognitive decline."

Following the news of Vice President Kamala Harris stepping into the race for President of the United States, CBS News reported on her role in the Biden-Harris administration’s immigration policies. According to CBS, former President Donald Trump said, "Harris presided over the ‘worst border ever’ as ‘border czar,’" in a July 22 report. The report indicated that Harris is "all but certain" to face more criticism on immigration but noted that her responsibilities on the border are mischaracterized.

Instead of Harris taking on the responsibility of overseeing immigration policy and enforcement at the southern border, CBS stated that this is mainly the responsibility of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and his department. Harris’ work in immigration has been "focused on convincing companies to invest in Central America and promoting democracy and development through diplomacy," CBS reported on July 22.

Regarding allegations of a coverup of President Biden’s cognitive decline, Politico reported earlier this month that senior team management of the president has become more strictly controlled as his term has progressed. Politico noted that during meetings with aides who are preparing formal briefings for Biden, some senior officials have gone to great lengths to curate information presented to avoid provoking a negative reaction. Politico did not mention Harris or name any officials they were quoting or writing about in their July 2 report.

Mary Miller is currently serving in the U.S. Congress, representing Illinois’ 15th district. She replaced previous U.S Congress member John Shimkus in 2021. Miller graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a BA. Born in Oak Park, Illinois in 1959, she currently lives in Oakland and has seven children and twenty grandchildren. She and her husband continue to run their fourth-generation family farm.
