All nine Fighting Illini women's tennis student-athletes and the team as a whole were honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for their academic achievements during the 2023-24 academic year, the organization announced on Monday.
Illinois achieved a combined team GPA of 3.89 during the fall semester and 3.75 in the spring term, surpassing the 3.2 GPA required to qualify for the ITA All-Academic Team award.
All nine Fighting Illini student-athletes exceeded the 3.5 GPA necessary to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2023-24 campaign.
In 2024, 1,573 Division I women's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and 255 women's tennis programs received All-Academic Team distinction.
Josie Frazier concluded her career as a five-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, while Kida Ferrari, Megan Heuser, and Kasia Treiber are now three-time honorees. Kate Duong earned recognition twice, while McKenna Schaefbauer, Rosie Seccia, and Alice Xu each received their first honors.
Additional academic accolades collected by head coach Evan Clark's squad this past season included Duong earning a Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship. Ferrari, Frazier, and Heuser were recognized as Big Ten Distinguished Scholars. Previously, Duong, Ferrari, Frazier, Heuser, Martinez, and Treiber were named to the Big Ten Spring Academic All-Big Ten list. In mid-May, Frazier, Ferrari, Heuser, and Schaefbauer were named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.
