There were three gas stations in cities across Vermilion County selling diesel at the lowest price of $3.89 per gallon in the week ending Feb. 17, according to GasBuddy.com.

The average cost of diesel in cities within Vermilion County was $3.93 per gallon.

Of the six gas stations in cities within Vermilion County, five offer diesel.

The average price of diesel in Illinois was $4.07, compared to $3.86 the week before.

Experts predict gasoline prices could drop below $3 this year before rebounding closer to $4 by year's end. GasBuddy forecasted a national average of $3.38 per gallon, down from $3.51. An outlook published in late 2023 suggests that gas rates will continue to fall in 2024.
