Champaign Police and Fire Departments recently organized a half-day training session for all first responders in Champaign County. The training, held at First Christian Church in Champaign on January 30, aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of personnel from various agencies in the area.

The training comprised classroom instruction, a scenario, and a debriefing session. It was carefully designed to be completed within 60 minutes by each responding unit. The focus of the training was to educate police, fire, and EMS personnel on crucial processes such as staging, incident management, and the formation of a Rescue Task Force. A total of 163 first responders from different agencies participated in the training day. The event required the coordination of 15 facilitators and 24 role players to ensure its smooth operation.
