Village of Mahomet Board of Trustees met Sept. 26.
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
1. CALL TO ORDER: Meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
3. ROLL CALL: Mohr called the roll, Trustees Colravy, Tompkins, Harpst, Preston, Oliger and Metzger are present. Additionally, Sean Widener - Village President, Patrick Brown - Village Administrator, Joe Chamley - Village Attorney, Carole Tempel - Director of Finance, Mike Metzler - Chief of Police and Dawn Mohr - Village Clerk are all present.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT: No public comment was submitted to the clerk electronically and there are no members of the community present.
5. PUBLIC HEARING: PUBLIC HEARING CONCERNING THE INTENT OF THE VILLAGE OF MAHOMET, CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, ILLINOIS TO SELL GENERAL OBLIGATION LIMITED TAX BONDS. The public hearing notice was read by Widener and no members of the community are present. Widener called for a motion to close the public hearing, Tompkins moved and Harpst seconded. Mohr called the roll ALL VOTES YES 6-0 TO CLOSE THE PUBLIC HEARING.
6. CONSENT AGENDA (TO BE ACTED UPON): Widener asked if there was any comments or questions about the items on the consent agenda, none are presented. Widener called for a motion, Metzger moved and Oliger seconded. Mohr called the roll ALL VOTES YES 6-0 to approve the consent agenda.

1. Ordinance 23-09-01 An Ordinance Vacating Certain Right-of-Way Related to South Mahomet Road (SMR 578 Plat 18) in the Village of Mahomet, Illinois

7. REGULAR AGENDA (TO BE ACTED UPON):
A. ADMINISTRATION:
1. Resolution 23-09-01 A Resolution Partially Waiving Certain Municipal Fees for the Development at 1802 Patton Drive. Brown explained that staff prepared 2 resolution choices as directed by the board at the September 19 study session. One that issued a reduction in fees and the other that offered a reduction in sewer fees plus a full waiver for water connections as proposed by Harpst. Harpst reiterated why he felt a full waiver of the water connection was warranted and also brought Trustee Preston up to speed as she was absent at the Study Session. Colravy agreed with Harpst as to why the fee should be waived. Oliger questioned the waiver of the water connection as to how the board would explain to other businesses. Harpst stated that it would be case by case and gave examples where both water and sewer connections were waived. Widener states that staff needs to address the fees and propose changes for the board to review. Brown agreed that staff will work on changes. Widener asked if there were any other questions or comments. None are presented. Harpst moves to approve option "A" which reduced the sewer connection fees and gave a full waiver to the water connection fees. Colravy seconded. Mohr called the roll. ALL VOTES YES 6-0 to approve option "A" and give the business a full waiver of water connection fees and a reduction of sewer connection fees.
8. FINANCE: PRELIMINARY TAX LEVY Tempel went over the preliminary tax levy and what brought her to the conclusion of a 35.5% increase. She states that the Village would not receive the amount requested as there are tax caps in place to prevent the full levy. She also stated that the Village would likely receive approximately 77% of the requested amount. She stated that the increase would also include police protection levy. This preliminary topic is step one. The board will also see this in the October meeting and the final would be brough to the board for approval in November.

10. NEW BUSINESS: Metzger asked if there was a date set for the next joint meeting with the Mahomet-Seymour Board of Education. Widener responds that Brown and he have been in discussion with the school district and the date is set for December 12th at 7:00 PM. He also stated that it will take place at Cornbelt Fire Department. Widener stated that he along with other community mayors have protested zoning at the county level against wind farms.
11. ADJOURNMENT: Widener calls for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Tompkins moved and Metzger seconded. Mohr called the roll - ALL VOTES YES 6-0. Meeting adjourned at 6:22 PM
