Sen. Scott Bennett promotes a new that will support local manufacturers of Illinois.
In a May 19 Facebook post, Bennett (D-Champaign) touted a new law that would give Illinois residents reason to buy vehicles manufactured in Illinois.
"A new law incentivizing Illinoisans to purchase vehicles manufactured in-state was signed recently. This new law will help our local manufacturers and promote economic growth in our communities," said Bennett.
The new law, passed in the Senate on May 13, gives Illinois residents a discount on vehicle registration if the application for registration is made no more than one year after the month in which the vehicle was manufactured.
“We have wonderful manufacturers right here in Illinois that offer a wide variety of high-quality vehicles,” said Bennett (D-Champaign). “Encouraging consumers to purchase vehicles that are manufactured in-state is an easy way to spark our statewide economy.”
The bill also had the support of Senators Don DeWitte, Terri Bryant and Dale Fowler.
