Hausman For Congress has issued the following press release:

Champaign, IL — Seeing the divisiveness, ambition, and negativity from politicians who use fear and outrage to win elections, Matt Hausman realizes how much we’ve lost our way in politics. He’s had enough, which is why he announced today he is running for Congress in Illinois’ 13th Congressional District. The aerospace engineer, teacher, and local community leader is running to restore the American Dream and create opportunities for the next generation.

“It’s time our leaders stopped playing politics and instead focused on working together to find solutions that make people’s lives better,” Hausman said. “We need to change the narrative, stop letting politics and negativity get in the way of helping everyday people, and restore the American Dream.

Growing up on his family’s farm in central Illinois, Hausman was given the opportunity to chase the American Dream. He became an aerospace engineer, working on cutting edge space systems at Boeing and SpaceX. Ever since, he’s worked to ensure the next generation has access to those same chances by teaching at a low-income charter school, volunteering for charities around the world, and leading a local non-profit that feeds hungry children across Champaign County.

“It’s time we invested in our future. We need to rethink our education system because it’s a different world today. Our kids need skillsets to thrive into the future. And no matter if they live in Champaign-Urbana, East St. Louis, or any of the other rural or metro areas between them, they deserve opportunities and hope for the future—but right now, we’re falling short,” said Hausman.

Hausman is also focused on stopping the surging crime and violence in our communities. He explained to lower crime will take much more than slogans, we have to address the immediate emergency and combat violence, then do the hard work of solving the root problems.

Finally, in light of record inflation and the fiscal failures of the federal government, Hausman is calling on Congress to balance the budget, eliminate waste, and be much more targeted with spending. He also wants to see trade agreements that are fair for American workers and farmers.

“Our leaders need to enact thoughtful policies that help working families thrive,” Hausman said. “We must innovate our economy to provide opportunities for everyone. We can solve our country’s biggest and most pressing challenges by promoting innovation and new technology rather than the heavy hand of government imposing regulations.”
