State Rep. Brad Halbrook (R- Shelbyville) has invited his constituents to enjoy a slice of pizza and talk with him and other elected officials at a campaign event in Taylorville.

Halbrook shared the invitation on Facebook.

"As the 2022 Primary campaign season kicks off, please join us for Pizza, Petition & Politics Party," Halbrook wrote in a Facebook post.

Halbrook mentioned other countywide office holders and candidates would also be in attendance, giving voters the chance to meet and speak with them in a casual setting.

"We'll discuss the good, bad & ugly of current and future policies in and around the county, state & national level. We will discuss ways to make things better," Halbrook said in his post.

The event is scheduled for Feb. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Florinda's Pizza Ristorante Italiano. The restaurant is at 114 S Main St. in Taylorsville.

"There is no cost to attend this event however contributions to offset the cost would always be appreciated," Habrook wrote in the post. "Join us and bring a friend! Please RSVP so that we can have proper accommodations."

Halbrook announced back in December that he would be running for the newly drawn 107th House District, according to the Chambana Sun

The Chambana Sun reported that Halbrook said he was running to "keep fighting to turn our state around." He also noted a number of issues Illinois was faced with including rising state pension costs, a lack of meaningful tax relief, failing to get to the root of corruption, and increased government spending.

Halbrook has also been encouraging legislators to work as a team to help tackle the rising violent crime rate in the state, according to the East Central Reporter.
