Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Senate President Don Harmon and House Speaker Chris Welch raise their glasses while visiting London.
State Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) is one of many political opponents piling on Gov. J.B. Pritzker who posted a maskless photo of himself partying in London.
Rose called into question the widely shared photo.
“Tone deaf and smacks of 'let them eat cake!' I'd like to know who paid for their travel?” Rose told Chambana Sun.
While maintaining some of the most strict COVID protocol in the United States, Pritzker is now taking advantage of the more lax orders regarding COVID precautions the United Kingdom offers over those Pritzker has mandated in Illinois.
Pritzker and Illinois House Speaker Emanuel "Chris" Welch (D-Westchester) and Illinois Senate President Don Harmon (D-Oak Park) posted photos of themselves toasting in an English pub.
The three, known for their authoritarian stance on masking in Illinois, had large smiles on their faces as they clinked glasses.
“Cheers to a great trip to London promoting Illinois as a climate leader and one of the best places in the US to bring electric vehicle manufacturing,” Harmon posted on Facebook.
Pritzker took the trip, his first international travel since becoming governor, to discuss initiative bans.
