2021 Scarecrow Hunt

Scarecrows are on display until Monday, November 1

We had so much fun hunting for scarecrows all over Champaign County last year that we decided to bring it back this year. We invite you to start a new family tradition this Halloween season by participating in the Scarecrow Hunt!

Scarecrows will be on display beginning October 18 and will be taken down after November 1.

Look for all the creepy, quirky and creatively decorated scarecrows outside member businesses all around Champaign County. Pick a day to take the kids on a scarecrow hunt and find them. Then post photos of your favorites on social media with #ChampaignCountyScarecrows.

We’ll randomly choose one photo to win a $50 gift card to a local restaurant!

A list of participating locations and the contest rules can be here.

This is a free event open to the community. Please share with anyone you think may be interested.

Happy Hunting!

Protecting Personal Information: A Guide for Business

Your business probably has a lot of private information: information about your customers, about your employees, and information about yourself. Today, identity fraud is rampant, so it is important for businesses to know what information they have, decide whether they really need to keep it, and if so, set up a secure way to store it. This is a video from the U.S. Bureau of Consumer Protection to help businesses through this process. The video on the landing page is just a preview. You need to click on the tutorial link to go to the actual resource. This is just one of many resources on the Tools for Business section of our website to help businesses start and grow.

BIGG Tip of the Week
The Surprising Spark for Creative Breakthroughs

Stuck on a problem? Take a break to spark creative breakthroughs! Psychologist K. Anders Ericsson says top performers work in 90-minute cycles and then take a break. It’s called “pulsing.” Use your breaks to daydream, look outside, go for a walk or a ride. Move between spending and renewing your energy. It leads to BIGG Success!
