City of Urbana Sustainability Advisory Commission met April 6.

Commissioners Present: Tomas Delgado, Maddy Garbacz, Stacy Gloss, Jessica Lehmkuhl, Andrew Stumpf, Morgan White, Grace Wilken

Commissioners Absent: James Corbin

Staff Present: Scott Tess

Call to Order, Roll Call, and Declaration of Quorum

Chair Gloss called the meeting to order, a roll was called and a quorum was present.

Approval of Minutes

Commission Member Wilken motioned to approve the minutes from the March 2, 2021 meeting. Commission Member White seconded the motion and carried by roll call vote as follows:

Aye: Tomas Delgado, Maddy Garbacz, Stacy Gloss, Jessica Lehmkuhl, Andrew Stumpf, Morgan White, Grace Wilken

Nay: None

There was no public input.

Presentations

Emulsicoat Discussion. Representatives from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and Emulsicoat/Heritage were in attendance (listed below).

Illinois Environmental Protection Agency Representatives present: Christ Pressnall (Environmental Justice Coordinator), Julie Armitage (Chief, Bureau of Air), Cassandra Metz (Office of Community Relations), Brad Frost (Office of Community Relations)

Emulsicoat/Heritage and Asphalt Materials, Inc. Representatives: Chris McGee (Executive Vice President), Rich Beyers (Vice President, Emulsicoat, Urbana, IL), Sarah Clark (Environmental Compliance Manager, AMI), Tony Kriech (Prior President of Research Group), Keith Toombs (Safety Manager, AMI), Linda Osborn (Director of Analytical Research), Rebekah Shaw (Industrial Hygienist/Lab Chemist)

Each group presented, commission members and members of the public asked questions and a discussion ensued thereafter.

May 4 at 7:00 pm in Council Chambers at the Urbana City Building or by Zoom depending on circumstances.
